Prescription Bluegrass radio goes silent

prescriptionBrian McNeal, bluegrass blogger, newsman, and radio host, has announced that he is hanging up one of those hats as we enter 2016. While he will continue to manage his web presence with Prescription Bluegrass online, he will no longer produce his long-running radio program by the same name.

Prescription Bluegrass Radio had produced a one-hour weekly broadcast for the past ten years, offered to broadcast affiliates across the United States. It is this show which has been discontinued. Brian’s 2-minute bluegrass audio news service will still be produced without interruption.

The Prescription Bluegrass web site is also still available and Brian will continue to post updates and reviews there.

He tells us that his decision to drop the radio show is based on the changes he’s seen in bluegrass broadcasting this past ten years.

Brian McNeal“When we started this over ten years ago, the map had a completely different look. There were very few broadcast outlets willing to air bluegrass with any regularity and there were even less streaming online. Today we have bluegrass everywhere it seems. I started out trying to fill a void but that doesn’t appear to be needed any longer.”
