Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band on WFDU

There’s a great live bluegrass concert on the radio this Friday. Tune in to Lonesome Pine RFD on WFDU-FM with host Carol Beaugard to hear a full hour of live music and conversation with The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band on 12/3 at 11:00 a.m. (EDT).

The band features Peter Rowan on guitar and vocals, Jody Stecher on mandolin, Keith Little on banjo, and Paul Knight on bass.

Carol tells us that…

“The band stopped by the WFDU studios just before Thanksgiving while they were touring in the NY area to record this very special and intimate in-studio performance. You’ll hear live renditions of songs from their debut CD Legacy on Compass Records, just nominated for the Best Bluegrass Album Grammy. In addition, they shared some great personal stories about their long history together including fond memories of their formative days in New England, Washington D.C. and NYC. They were in great form and their sound was truly soulful. It was a real treat and a deep honor to have them perform in our studios.”

The show can be heard in the NYC metro area on 89.1 FM and is streamed live on www.wfdu.fm. If you miss the program, the show will be archived for two weeks on WFDU’s web site, and will be taped for later broadcast on WAMU’S Bluegrass Country.
