On the 8th Day of Christmas…

day8…Ms. Vincent gave to me, a bag full of prizes and her own baked turkey recipe.

We’re still giving away prizes during our 12 Days of Christmas with Rhonda Vincent. Each day, we draw a winner from those who have entered, and ship them a prize pack from Rhonda and Martha White, and a Bluegrass Today cap and shirt.

Today’s winner is Kelly Rodgers from Great Falls, MT. Congratulations Kelly!

Entries are still being accepted online, with prize giving continuing through Christmas Day when a new iPad 3 will be awarded to one lucky winner.

And now, a baked turkey recipe from Rhonda’s grandmother.

Grandma’s Baked Turkey

1 Turkey (rule of thumb – bake 13 minutes per pound of turkey)

Wash & Remove all parts from inside. Place turkey in baking bag inside the roasting pan. Rub the turkey with butter, salt generously, sprinkle a pinch of pepper.

Place a peeled onion and whole apple inside the turkey. Seal the baking bag, poke a few holes in the top of the bag, cover and bake at 350 degrees.

After the baking time, taste the turkey to be sure the turkey is baked thoroughly. Bake longer if necessary, checking often, basting with the juices to keep moist and tender. Do not overcook.

Don’t forget to stop back each day for a scrumptious recipe from Rhonda’s Kitchen, and be sure to enter online to win!
