Milan Bluegrass Festival getting ready to go

sunsetSunday saw the influx of early campers for the Milan Bluegrass Festival held at the KC Campground in Milan, Michigan. Those campers we treated to a delightful sunset.

Monday and Tuesday are relaxed days for campers, who can be found picking at numerous campsites, but a busy time for the festival staff preparing for the show. Wednesday starts the busy time  for festival goers. The Southeast Michigan Bluegrass Music Association will host its “kids of all ages” instrument petting zoo at 3:00 p.m. It is always a treat to see a youngster with an instrument in his hands for the first time.

The Association will host a potluck for the early arrivals on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Festival promoter and campground owner, Mark, Gaynier, will host an open mic session on the festival stage following the dinner. The stage show opens Thursday afternoon with Sugar Creek Bluegrass, The Wayfarers, Blue Highway, Mountain Faith, and the Gibson Brothers. Friday brings The Crowe Brothers, Adkins & Loudermilk, Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers, Becky Buller, and Dailey & Vincent. Saturday features Hammertowne, The Trinity River Band, Breaking Grass, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, and Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out. MC duties will be handled by Blake Williams.

The Southeast Michigan Bluegrass Music Association will induct the first class of its Hall of Honor each afternoon of the festival. The Ol’ Hippie Bluegrass Radio Show on WWB will broadcast live from the festival from 9:00-11:00 p.m. Thursday.

Join us at the festival. The Candidpix.info camera may catch you having a good time!
