Mike Compton to Peghead Nation

Mike ComptonPegged Nation has announced that Monroe-style mandolin master Mike Compton has joined their staff of instructors, and will soon be introducing a new video course for the California-based e-learning outfit.

The company was launched just over a year ago to provide high level instruction for students of bluegrass, old-time, and Americana music on stringed instruments. Three friends launched the venture, after working together in editorial positions at Acoustic Guitar magazine, and offer video courses by top, national touring artists for a monthly registration fee. Students can study mandolin, guitar, banjo, fiddle, reso-guitar, or ukulele with their various faculty members for a month, a year, or indefinitely.

Compton joins Sharon Gilchrist and Joe Walsh as staff mandolin instructors. He has a long tenure teaching both basic and advanced students in the intricacies of the style Bill Monroe pioneered during the 20th century. You can see him now performing solo across the country, or with Nashville superstar group, Helen Highwater. Mike is the founder and chief instructor at his own Monroe Mandolin Camp, held annually in Nashville.

Look for Monroe-Style Mandolin by late November at the Pegged Nation web site.
