Larry Sparks at IBMA

| October 4, 2012 | 2 Comments

The indisputable highlight for me during Fan Fest last weekend was getting to visit with the great Larry Sparks. A bluegrass institution of long standing, Larry and his band did a powerful set on the main stage, and then he stopped by the Bluegrass Today booth to shoot an interview with us.

As always, Sparks was his restrained and contemplative self, displaying the quiet authority that comes from a complete mastery of his music.

I was especially struck by his comments on “keeping it bluegrass.” They weren’t argumentative, or condescending. Just a heartfelt plea from a man who has spent his life helping define the style.

  1. Am I the only one who loves Larry Sparks more every time I see him?

  2. Avatar of Dick Bowden Dick Bowden says:

There was a lot of real wisdom shared in that video!
