Kris Rasnake to Blue Moon Rising

Event Details

Here’s one we missed when it occurred earlier this year…

Kris Rasnake is playing banjo with Blue Moon Rising. He took the spot vacated by Owen Piatt, who had laid down the five on the band’s current CD, Strange New World.

While still in high school, Kris was offered the banjo gig with Larry Sparks, and also worked with Ernie Thacker. He joins bandleader Chris West on guitar, Brandon Bostic on mandolin, and Tony Mowell on bass.

In a first for the band, Bostic and Mowell have parts in a short film called Mad Dog, for which the band recorded the soundtrack. As yet unfinished, it tells of a rabies epidemic in 1930s Appalachia. We hope to hear more about that in the near future.
