Karin Wright – You Got The Silver

Karin Wright - You Got The SilverWe hear a good bit about bluegrass music in Sweden these days, but less so in neighboring Norway. It’s there, however, and we get a taste with the release of You Got The Silver from Norwegian artist Karin Wright.

She’s the latest singer from outside the bluegrass world to turn our way for their new project. Previous efforts have been more in the country and country/rock mold, but for You Got The Silver Karin has enlisted the help of the second generation Reno & Harrell band to record an album of pure old time bluegrass and country music.

Wright sings in unaccented English, and tracked this album live in the US with Dale and Don Wayne Reno producing. They chose a mix of Karin’s originals (Like A Fading Rose, Sandy, True Believers), bluegrass favorites (Love Me Darling Just Tonight, Salty Dog), and simple arrangements of songs from both in and out of the country/bluegrass tradition (You Got The Silver from the Rolling Stones, Jealous Heart from Jenny Lou Carson).

Don Wayne Reno is on banjo with brother Dale on mandolin. Mitch Harrell plays guitar, Robbie Wells fiddle, Ron Spears bass, and Steve Wilson reso-guitar.

The album is available from popular download sites, or from Karin’s web site.
