Jimmy Ross to Barbwire

Resonator guitarist Jimmy Ross is the newest member of Barbwire Bluegrass, based in Georgia. He had worked previously with Frances Mooney and Fontanna Sunset.

Barbwire is a father-and-son outfit, with Ricky Ponder on guitar, his son Ben on bass, and Gary Looper on mandolin with his son Casey on banjo. I guess that makes Jimmy odd man out.

The band is in a bit of a holding pattern just now, with Looper senior in the hospital recuperating from cancer surgery. Reports suggest that the procedure was successful, and the family hopes to see him return home this weekend.
