Irene Kelley to Mountain Fever

Irene Kelley - photo by Stacie HuckebaMountain Fever Records has announced the signing of celebrated Nashville singer and songwriter Irene Kelley to the label. She will begin work this winter on a new album with Mark Fain producing. A Spring 2016 release is anticipated.

The new project is expected to continue Kelley’s trademark mix of bluegrass, country, and Americana music. After years of writing songs for top artists like Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood, Loretta Lynn, Pat Green, Brother Phelps, Rhonda Vincent, Claire Lynch, Darrell Scott, The Whites, and the Osborne Brothers, Irene has taken to recording under her own name, and touring more aggressively after raising two daughters at home.

Her Pennsylvania Coal album in 2014 served as her reintroduction to the bluegrass world, where it was well received by fans and critics alike.

She reports pure delight at pairing up with Mountain Fever…

“I am over the moon and up in the clouds today with this news. I have to thank Mark Hodges for welcoming me into the, Mountain Fever Records family and my dear friend Mark Newton for making the introduction a while back. Gratitude and blessings abound.”

… and Hodges sends the love right back.

“Irene is a master at crafting a song—painting a picture with her lyrics—and she does it as well as anyone I know. The only thing that makes her lyrics better, is the way she sings them! I am so excited to have her join our musical family here at Mountain Fever.”

Here’s a lyric video from her previous album, for the song You Don’t Run Across My Mind, one Kelley wrote with Peter Cooper.
