IBMA Board nominations sought

IBMADuring this summer, the International Bluegrass Music Association needs to fill five open seats among its Board of Directors. This is a fine opportunity for those who care deeply about the mission and direction of the organization to consider whether service on the Board might be a good personal option.

New Directors are chosen in a three-step process. Between now and July 1, nominee applications will be accepted by the Nominating Committee, who will begin meeting to select the best two or three from among the submissions for each open position. This is a deliberative process among the committee members. Then, starting August 1, members in the various voting categories will choose new Directors from among the candidates. The voting deadline will be August 15.

Seats are open for the following membership categories:

  • Agents, Managers & Publicists
  • Artists, Composers & Music Publishers
  • Recording, Distribution & Marketing (includes record labels, recording services and record distributors)
  • Event Production (includes event producers and event tech services)
  • At-Large (can be an eligible IBMA voting member in any membership category)

Interested applicants are asked to complete the IBMA Nominee Application, which requests basic personal information and some details about your experience in bluegrass music. Each submission should also indicate two current IBMA members as nominators, one of whom may be the potential nominee.

Completed submissions should be sent to:

Regina Derzon
IBMA Nominating Committee Chair
16900 Annandale Road
Emmitsburg, MD  21727

They can also be submitted to Regina by email.

Given the ferocity with which Board activity was argued late last year and earlier in 2015, one would expect these Board elections to be vigorously contested.
