Helen Highwater rises in Nashville

A new band is set to hit the scene, combining four Nashville superpickers itching to play together.

David Grier is on guitar, Missy Raines on bass, Mike Compton on mandolin, and Shad Cobb on fiddle. They have chosen the clever name Helen Highwater (think about it), and are booking now through Above The Bay.

Though Missy fronts her own band, The New Hip, we understand from Maria Nadauld at Above The Bay, that while she won’t be abandoning her band, Helen Highwater is taking all gigs and wants to work as many festivals as possible.

All four are extremely capable and accomplished musicians and singers, so this should be an act that will attract some attention out of the gate.

A demo will be recorded in early December, and a live show December 1 will be filmed for video distribution shortly thereafter. A full-length project is expected in 2013.

Intriguing, to say the least.
