Gold Heart in Bavaria

Gold Heart is taking their family-style bluegrass to central Europe this month, visiting Austria and Germany on their travels. They have promised to send along a few reports as they go. This first comes from mandolinist and eldest sister Tori Gold.

Gold Heart in BavariaGreetings from Bavaria,

We landed safely in Frankfurt, Germany on Sunday afternoon and had a delicious lunch at a restaurant called the Waffel House. Despite the name, this restaurant is quite a bit different, and better, than the Waffle House we know in the States. These waffles are gourmet! They put melted white chocolate, strawberries and marzipan on my waffle. It was delicious and the coffee was great too!

From Frankfurt we headed south to Heidelberg, Germany. Our Dad spent five years in Heidelberg when he was young. He has always told us stories of living here, so it was cool to finally see where he spent part of his childhood. We loved this beautiful city.

Waffels in FrankfurtWe started out our European Tour with an awesome show in Vöhringen, Germany on Monday night. The people were so welcoming, enthusiastic and they truly appreciated bluegrass music. Our hosts fed us a tasty Bavarian meal of goulash and dumplings. It was great to be able to enjoy a traditional meal.

We are speeding down the Autobahn towards Austria now. We have a show in Vienna tonight. We are really looking forward to meeting the bluegrass fans there.

The European countryside is truly remarkable. To the right of us is the foothills of the Alps. What an amazing experience it is to be here in Europe!

Auf Wiedersehen for now.
