Red Barn Radio Welcomes Sarah Morgan 06/19/13 at 7 pm
The music of Sarah Morgan embodies her respect and joy of folk music and her creative approach to arranging. Backing traditional Appalachian melodies and haunting old time tunes with fresh harmonies and a progressive drive, she lends a new feel to seemingly “old” tunes, while accompanying pure and heartfelt vocals with the unpretentious sound of the Appalachian dulcimer. Folk, Americana , and Old-Time roots are brought to the forefront at live shows, where only Sarah and her dulcimer can be found behind the microphone, creating a subtle yet powerful sound that brings the relevant music of the past to today’s audience.

Well known and respected among his peers as a seasoned artist in bluegrass music, Paul Adkins has been playing the music he loves for over 40 years. While growing up in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, he developed his own unique style of this American brand of music. He is admired for his tender, smooth yet soulful vocals. Paul earned his stripes over the years as a side man for some of the most respected and popular bands in the music industry, performing with such bands as The Goins Brothers, Bill Harrell & The Virginians and with J. D. Crowe and The New South before launching his own career as bandleader of Paul Adkins & the Borderline Band. In all, Paul did release some five albums for Rebel Records. He had created his own niche in the music and is known worldwide by bluegrass music connoisseurs. When you do get the chance to witness him you’ll have to agree that you will not only hear and see but feel the comforting serenity that exudes from this true southern gentleman. Paul will be accompanied this night by a few of his closest musical friends (most legends in their own right). First of all, bluegrass icon and former Sunny Mountain Boy of Jimmy Martin fame, Chris Warner, will feature his talent on not only vocals but will especially relay his expert knowledge concerning the 5-string banjo; Marshall Wilborn, the bass playing phenom and Grammy nominee whom has also won the IBMA Song of the Year award along with countless nominations for the IBMA Bass Player of the Year (and in fact IS IBMA’s current Bass Player of the Year), will be featured on vocals while providing a masterful rhythm section on the upright acoustic bass; and lastly, David Propst will add his talent to the mix with his extended vocal knowledge and mandolin talents as to round out this terrific band of professional musical zealots.
