Evans Media taking radio to events

Like so many folks working in the bluegrass music business, Ernie Evans wears a number of hats. Partnered with his wife, Debi, he is active as a performer, event producer and radio broadcaster.

The two of them have played together for many years as the Evans Acoustic Trio and the Florida State Bluegrass Band, until Ernie took to the road with Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike a few years ago. Having left that gig, the Evanses now work together full time, and are promoting live radio remotes to bluegrass festivals looking for an extra promotional edge.

“Bluegrass is how Debi and I met over 30 years ago and has been a main stay in our lives ever since. Today we broadcast weekly on two different stations, perform live shows, run four festivals and host multiple concert series. I guess you could say we stay busy.

I left Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike in September of last year to pursue radio and a solo career in bluegrass. I have been very lucky to perform with some of the best entertainers in the business and will always appreciate the opportunity they gave me to learn the trade.

My wife Debi Evans is not only a great co-host on our show but she has become an accomplished singer and bass player. Performing together was the only thing has missing. I also needed to focus more on the future to be more innovative to combat the economic challenges ahead. Since we launched in October of 2010, hard work and integrity earned us over 120 dates in 2011, and more in 2012.”

They will be participating at this years IBMA World of Bluegrass, leading a seminar on Internet Broadcasting—Audio & Video Streaming.
