ETSU seeks Marketing Coordinator

ETSU-LogoETSU’s Department of Appalachian Studies, which includes their Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies degree program, has posted an opening for a Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator. This is a half-time position for someone to assist with the promotion of the BOT&CMS department, and developing marketing materials for student band performances and the department web site.

The successful candidate would start work on September 1, 2015.

The Department of Appalachian Studies at East Tennessee State University invites applications for a part-time position of Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator to begin September 1, 2015.

Essential functions include working with Department personnel to develop promotional, educational, and operational materials; writing content to promote and advance the work of the Department, including news releases, articles, programs, and brochures; creating original designs for print and online publication; overseeing the creation and maintenance of content for the Department website and social media sites; coordinating with other University departments and with media organizations to promote the work of the Department; assisting in the planning and promotion of major Department events; assisting in the booking and promotion of performances by student bands in the Department.

Hardworking, dedicated professional with good interpersonal skills who has knowledge of university policies, procedures, and administrative structure; knowledge of basic principles of graphic design; knowledge of basic principles of public relations and marketing; and knowledge and appreciation of traditional American music and the Appalachian region.

Must be able to communicate effectively; organize and prioritize multiple tasks; interact with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds; use computers and technology effectively; use desktop publishing applications such as InDesign, Photoshop, Publisher, and Illustrator; work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students; plan and manage projects well; meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and two years professional experience in graphic design, public relations, marketing, or related field.

Work Hours: 20 hours per week to be scheduled
