Doug Dillard hospitalized

Event Details

Sadly lost in all the Earl Scruggs coverage, we have learned that banjo legend Doug Dillard is hospitalized in Nashville.

When first admitted earlier this week, he was put on a ventilator because he couldn’t breathe. His family reports that he no longer needs the vent, and is in stable condition, but no further prognosis is available. Doug had also been hospitalized in 2011 with a collapsed lung.

Bluegrass fans have a special place in their heart for Dillard, both for his several appearances on The Andy Griffith Show as a member of the Darlin’ Family, and from the many prior and subsequent performances as a member of the Dillards with brother Rodney, Dean Webb and Mitch Jayne.

I’m sure everyone at Bluegrass Today will join in wishing Doug a speedy recovery!
