Danny Paisley doing well after surgery

We have just learned that Danny Paisley has come through successful triple bypass surgery about an hour ago. He will be in recovery for another couple hours before he can see anyone, but we’re told that the procedure went well.

He had suffered a heart attack in late October, but the blockages were not severe enough to require emergency bypass, so Danny had been resting at home until today’s surgery.

Jim Roe with Roe Entertainment, who represents Danny, says that it may be some time before Paisley can return to the road.

“Danny is very humbled, and said to thank everyone for all of the attention and prayers he has received. He hopes to rest a lot these next few weeks, and when he is feeling better he will communicate his progress through Bluegrass Today, Facebook, or myself.”

I’m sure that all our readers join in wishing Danny Paisley a speedy recovery. Get well soon!

Rhonda Vincent also shared some information this morning about a fundraiser for Danny over the weekend at the Amelia Family Campground in central Virginia. Each year John and Fern Hutchinson hold a Christmas party on the site where their two bluegrass festivals are held, where they and their family do all the cooking while local bands provide the bluegrass entertainment.

Sunday’s party also raised money for Paisley, to help cover his medical expenses and lost income. Their daughter Brenda Lawson said…

“We’ve watched our father help many people each Christmas, raising funds for the bluegrass community, and bringing together friends and family to celebrate the season. This year we were especially happy to lend a helping hand to Danny Paisley, and wish him a successful surgery.”

Brenda also shared these photos from the party.
