Coming Home video from Lucky Lips

Lucky LipsLucky Lips isn’t like your average bluegrass group.

To start with, they’re called Lucky Lips, plus they’re fronted by vocalist Malin Pettersen who is given to appear on stage in pink hair, and they’re based in Oslo. That’s in Norway.

They perform original bluegrass and Americana music, heavily tinged with Euro-pop, and have a new album of their songs due out on September 9. To introduce it to the world, they have released a music video for the title track, Coming Home, using clips and pics from the past nine years on the road.

Along with Malin, the Lips consist of Even Keogh on banjo, Stian Sveen on guitar, Erlend Støylen Holland on bass, and Pål Emil Berg on percussion. The band has made quite a name for themselves in northern Europe since winning the #1 Bluegrass Award at the European World of Bluegrass convention in 2011, the first and only Norwegian group to take that honor.

Here’s another of their videos, one from last year and their song, Gone. It’s a clever video involving texting, online dating, and a gorilla.
