Changes for The Kevin Prater Band

burrows_brothersThe Kevin Prater Band has announced a bit of mid-season alteration in their lineup, motivated by the departure of guitarist Rick Bartley who is now touring with his brother, Shayne, as The Bartley Brothers.

Now working with Kevin are the Burrows brothers from North Carolina. Adam is on fiddle and Jake on banjo. In addition to working together in the western Carolina region, Adam has performed with Lonesome Will Mullins and Jake with Travers Chandler and Kody Norris. Adam has been with the band since this Spring, with Jake just now coming aboard.

As you can see, these two have impeccable traditional bluegrass credentials, making them a perfect fit for Prater and his old school style, which he calls Pure Kentucky Bluegrass Sound. Jake will also share in the vocal harmony Kevin’s group is know for, and will likely play some mandolin when the boss man switches to guitar.

To accommodate this switch, banjo player Tom Timberlake has moved to guitar with Danny Stinter on bass and Kevin on mandolin.

You can follow the band’s road schedule online.
