Carlton Haney passes

Event Details

We just received word from Fred Bartenstein that bluegrass manager and festival pioneer Carlton Haney died this afternoon at 2:15 p.m. (EDT). Sad news indeed for the bluegrass world.

As we had reported last week, Carlton was hospitalized in early March after suffering a stroke. He had been moved this morning from Intensive Care into the Palliative Care Unit at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. where he passed this afternoon.

We will post details about arrangements when they are verified, and will follow with a thorough recap of Haney’s enormous contributions to bluegrass music in short order.
