Bye Bye Darling – Tom Cat Reeder remembered on WAMU

Radio legend and WAMU’s Bluegrass Country host Tom “Cat” Reeder will be memorialized twice on the air today.

At  noon on Bluegrass Country, and again at 9:00 p.m. (EDT) on WAMU FM, the station will air Bye Bye Darling, a tribute to Reeder who passed away over the weekend at 78 years old. “Bye Bye Darling” was his signature sign off at the end of his programs over more than 50 years in broadcasting.

The show will be hosted by Bluegrass Country PD Chris Teskey, with Gary Henderson interviewing bluegrass icons Eddie Stubbs and Bobby Osborne about their memories of the Cat. Also scheduled to take part are Reeder’s fellow country music legends Bill Anderson and Connie Smith.

Tune in at noon at bluegrasscountry.org, and at 9:00 at wamu.org.
