Bryan McDowell to Claire Lynch
Claire Lynch has welcomed a new member into her group.
Bryan McDowell has come aboard to play mandolin and fiddle, and help with the harmony singing. He steps in for Jason Thomas, who has been with Claire since 2007, and is taking a break from the road life to spend more time with his wife and young son.
For his part, Bryan comes in with impeccable credentials, like first place finishes at Merlefest, Galax and Walnut Valley on fiddle, guitar or mandolin. In fact, he set an impressive standard by winning both fiddle and guitar at Winfield in 2009 – the first and only time that has happened – and then returned to take first in their debut mandolin competition the following year.
Get a glimpse at McDowell’s picking and singing in this video clip from his part-time group, Winfield Three.
