Bluegrass Country sez Thanks!

WAMU's Bluegrass CountryThe folks at WAMU’s Bluegrass Country want to share a big ‘Thanks You!” to the bluegrass lovers worldwide who have made donations during their pledge drive this week. As had been the case repeatedly, whenever the station makes an appeal to listeners for support, it comes in from fans who enjoy their 24/7 bluegrass music feed, offered both online and over the air in the DC market.

We just spoke with Katy Daley at Bluegrass Country, and she was pleased to announce that they reached their $50,000 fundraising goal in just 4 days. Now with 2 days left in their pledge drive, the opportunity exists to set a new record, so don’t feel like the job is done. Pledges are being accepted online, or by phone (877-448-2242), with premium gifts offered for donations of $7/month or more.

Katy said that WAMU General Manager JJ Yore had just run excitedly into her office with news that the goal had been achieved. He may be new at the station, but she says that he’s a huge supporter, and a big proponent for seeing them get on a financially sustainable footing going forward.

She also offered a word of thanks to Bluegrass Today readers who have made donations. After we published a story on Monday about the pledge drive, Katy said that they got responses from friends and past donors that they hadn’t heard from in years.

Well done, everyone!

WAMU’s Bluegrass Country broadcasts at 105.5 FM and HD radio 88.5-2 from Washington, DC, and online at www.bluegrasscountry.org.
