Bill Monroe Estate Sale this weekend

Bill MonroeFans of the one-and-only Bill Monroe will have a unique opportunity over the next few days to obtain memorabilia belonging to the Father of Bluegrass at an estate sale to be held in Gallatin, TN. Items to be offered for sale and at auction include musical instruments, clothing, mementos, photos, awards, pieces of furniture, and some audio equipment.

The roughly 1,000 pieces to be offered starting tomorrow (July 28) can be viewed online at the web site for Estate Agent Berenice Deaton. Not many are likely to be of particularly high value, but imagine the pride of owning a pair of Bill Monroe’s cowboy boots, a painting or photo that had hung in his home, or his official proclamation from the Commonwealth of Kentucky welcoming him as a Kentucky Colonel.

Itms will be available for viewing on site starting at 8:00 a.m. on the 28th. The gallery will be open from 8:00 until 4:00 p.m. (CDT) Thursday through Saturday. Online bids will also be considered.

With so many and varied pieces on offer, there is bound to be a prized keepsake for most anyone wanting to own a specimen from Bill Monroe’s personal collection.
