Angeline The Baker from The Bankesters

We haven’t heard much from The Bankesters of late, so we were delighted to discover this live video they shot during a recent performance on WSIU-TV, the PBS affiliate station run by Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

The band was in the studio for a segment of Little Egypt Live, which airs on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 p.m., and captured this new look for The Bankesters. Middle daughter Emily Pitney, who is usually on fiddle and lead vocals, grabbed the ol’ five string and her sister, Alysha, normally on mandolin, picked up the fiddle.

This video of an instrumental version of Angeline The Baker got almost 39,000 views on Facebook in just two days. Looks like they got by the “you can’t get that many views without paying for it” filter on Facebook!

Papa Phil Bankester says that they are starting work on a new album next month, after three years since their last. That’s surely something to look forward to, though in may not be ready until 2017.
