Mountain Home Music honors Doyle Lawson

Event Details

A few days ago John interviewed Doyle Lawson in connection with Lawson’s induction into the IBMA Hall of Fame. Now Mountain Home Music Co., Lawson’s record company, pays its own tribute to the legendary bluegrass music artist.

Mountain Home heralds this well-deserved induction with a near 15 minute selection of rare photographs and videos that recall incidents in Lawson’s varied career that spans almost 60 years playing bluegrass music in a professional capacity.

Starting at the age of 18 playing the banjo for Jimmy Martin, Lawson memories abound; the Country Gentlemen singing Fox on the Run (oh those pink shirts!); with J D Crowe – in the Kentucky Mountain Boys and the Bluegrass Album Band, the reunion shows with Crowe and Paul Williams; the first lineup of his group Quicksilver, the many graduates of the Doyle Lawson school of bluegrass – including Russell Moore, Randy Graham, Jim Mills, John Bowman, Scott Vestal, Ray Deaton, Barry Abernathy, Terry Baucom and Steve Gulley – some in their original garb and all reunited for the DVD Through the Years; the current lineup – Corey Hensley, Jason Barie, Joe Dean, Mike Rogers and Josh Swift  – and Lawson’s ‘spangly’ jackets ……

Enough! Far better that you watch and enjoy this tribute to a legend.
