I’ll Fly Away Foundation launches

Event Details

The family of groundbreaking Gospel songwriter Albert E. Brumley has announced the formation of the I’ll Fly Away Foundation, named for his most popular song.

The organization is chaired by Brumley’s granddaughter, Betsy Brumley, and was chartered with a mission to support young musicians. According to their web site:

IFAF will raise funds to preserve American musical heritage in all styles and forms by providing scholarships for those choosing music as a profession. IFAF believes music education is key to the success of our preservation mission and will conduct demonstration tours to schools of all levels to educate the next generation about the musical roots and traditions of America.

IFAF is currently raising funds with a goal of awarding 25, $1000 scholarships next year to deserving students, and to create a program that can help educate young people about our shared musical heritage.

The foundation has ties to the world of bluegrass through their Advisory Board. Lizzy Long, of the Little Roy and Lizzy Show, and Sheri Clark, of Sheri Clark media (who manages Monroeville and Stetson & Cia) both serve on the board.

More details can be found on the foundation’s web site.
