AKUS on Leno

Event Details

In addition to Steve Martin and Steep Canyon Rangers performing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night on NBC, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno featured Alison Krauss & Union Station with special guest Sam Bush.

If you ever get to wondering how Alison manages to keep such a fabulous band together while so many others experience ongoing personnel changes, this Tonight Show spot may provide a clue.

Barry Bales tells us that they dragged along a mandolin player to fill out the ensemble.

“We just felt we needed a little extra something in the rhythm section when comparing it with the fullness of the recording.”

You can watch Steve and the Rangers online as well, though NBC hasn’t posted a clip of just their performance. Follow this link to watch the full show, or click the second divider on their video player to watch just the music.
