Paul Warren Tribute Vol 2 in the works

Event Details

Johnny Warren and Charlie Cushman are finishing up a second album in tribute to Johnny’s dad, Paul Warren, long time fiddler with Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys.

Like the first project, A Tribute To Fiddlin’ Paul Warren, released in March of 2009, Johnny Warren is on fiddle with Cushman on banjo and Kent Blanton on bass. Del McCoury joins them on guitar as does Jerry Douglas on resonator guitar. Ricky Skaggs guests on mandolin for one track, and Charlie suggests that yet another special guest may apear before tracking is concluded.

Volume 2 will feature both full band tracks and a number of banjo/fiddle duets. Johnny is a fine authority on his father’s style, and Cushman channels Earl Scruggs as well as anyone.

The album is being recorded at Hilltop Studio with Steve Chandler engineering. A Spring 2011 release is anticipated.
